Orrin is a small, family owned and operated boutique winery and vineyards specializing in Northern Rhone reds, whites and old vine Zinfandel. What started as an idea on the eve of retirement, Dr. Wiederrich and his wife Florence purchased a small parcel of land in northeast San Diego County. Located just north of Warner Springs in the community of Sunshine Summit.
The vineyards and winery are nestled at 3500 feet in the foothills. The land was cleared and our Viognier vineyard was planted in 2000. Next came Dr. Wiederrich's favorite, "old vine" Zinfandel in 2001. Followed by our Syrah vineyard in 2002 which is our largest at only two and a half acres.
What began as a retirement project to supply local wineries with fruit, grew like the vines themselves and in 2007 the winery was bonded. We continue to grow and plant new vines and in 2010, we established our Mourvedre vineyard. Our future is bright with plans for Marsanne, Rousanne and a little something we like to call "Quintet". What is it ? It might just surprise you, however you will have to wait and taste... but not for long.
